The Ladybug

a set of Hive Ladybugs
A set of Ladybug add-on pieces contains one black and one white Ladybug. These pieces can be added to a standard Hive set and can be placed in the same way as other pieces. Once in play, the Ladybug moves three spaces, two on top of the Hive, then one down.

It must move exactly two on top of the Hive and then move one down on its last move. It may not move around the outside of the Hive and may not end its movement on top of the Hive. Even though it cannot block by landing on top of other pieces like the Beetle, it can move into or out of surrounded spaces.

Ladybugs in the shops

Many of the shops on the list of Hive stockists sell the Ladybug expansion, but we would advise calling the shop to check before making a long trip.

We do not recommend using the Ladybug when you first start to play Hive, but some of you may find that it adds some extra spice to the game once you have been playing it for a while.
